Blue Glove Open: Fall 2022, Week 6
In this buildup to Election Day, two wins from Jai Arora, especially a primetime 8-2 statement victory over one of the Group B favorites, Tomas Mulita, combined to announce his candidacy for the Group B title. For his efforts Arora is named the Player of the Week.
Arora is now 3-0 with his sights set on Group leader Yael Lan, who extended her lead with an emphatic win over usual rival Ariana Ipakchi, 8-2. Meanwhile, Spencer Weiss finds himself in the same position as Arora at 3-0 after another win over Ariana Ipakchi.
The marquee matchup of the weekend did not disappoint. Ben Cole outlasted James Reed 8-6 in a tight match that sends Cole to the Top 10 of Group B. Reed's first BGO match this season proved he may be a force to reckon with in the group.
The league also welcomed Daphne Dunlap in commanding style. She enters Group B with an 8-0 victory over Sophia Yu.
Finn Koski maintained his lead in Group D by the hair of his chin. Annecy Tran defeated him 8-5 for her first win of the season, but Koski still leads Shiloh Auzoux in the group by two games. Meanwhile, Julia Ross had one of the best outings in her BGO history with two wins in primetime---an 8-4 defeat of Ted Wang, and a thrilling tiebreak victory over Sebastian Parvizian to take her to fifth place.
