Fifty players at last singles tourney

The Road to THE TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP 2023

11/19 USTA 10U, 12U

11/19 UTR 18U

Now only the Year-End Finale WTN Doubles event in December remains. Fifty players vied for USTA and UTR titles at Holton-Arms over the weekend in the last singles events of the year.

Group championships went to Matias Sobrado, Siena Auzoux, and Shiloh Auzoux at the 10U USTA tournaments that placed four players in a number of round robins. Shiloh went toe to toe with Lara Dabney for the title in a 4-3 match, while Owen Burgess and Sanjay Ramiah took Sobrado the distance at 4-2. Siena stood out by not dropping a single game on her march to the championship.

At the UTR event played just after the USTA event, three different draws based on player rating grouped four players in each bracket. William Green emerged from Draw A as the top-ranked champion, defeating Ben Cole in the final.

Ilan Faraci and Lukas Nuxoll fought to a third-set tiebreak for the Draw B championship, with Faraci prevailing in a 10-8 thriller. In Draw C, Vagelis Ananiadis had little trouble in the second sets while overcoming tough opposition in the first sets of both the semis and the final.

With the cold, the 10U tournament scheduled for Sunday was canceled.

"Parents and players all were really understanding about the timing of matches," tournament director Michael Augsberger said. "We tried to keep the wait times down to a minimum and were proud to host so many in one morning and afternoon on just seven courts."

The full tables now look like this.

Each weekend until Thanksgiving, Tennis Central is bringing you USTA and UTR tournaments at Holton-Arms School. Earn points for advancing through each round, just like on the pro tours, and qualify for the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP at season's end.

Bigger events offer more points, with the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP offering the most, as well as prizes.
