Blue Glove Open: Week 6
The very first matches of 2022 went off with a bang. John Ozenci wins the Player of the Week award having seized pole position in Group D. In doing so he defeated Group C's Ilan Faraci 6-4 and signaled his intent to climb the ladder.
Alvaro Orlove welcomed Siena Propst to the league. She'll be a force in Group A. Their 7-6 nail-biter provided the most drama of the weekend.
Oddly the Group B leaders all have sub-.500 records. Yael Lan and Tomas Mulita have played many matches and are the proof that consistent play will propel you toward the top in this points-based league. They simply have the most quality wins--and Mulita also went the distance with Renata Cavallo for more drama.
Liv Hoffman is gunning for a playoff spot in an otherwise quiet Group C. Her win over Lily Venzke means she is just out of reach---for now. David Gong and Anton Botelho's draw give them a one-point advantage, which could lead us to a thrilling Steelers-Chargers-Raiders situation later on.
Atop the entire pyramid, JT Mathura extended his lead to six points over Jeremy Chud and William Green by virtue of his 8-3 defeat of Bora Barclay, who despite a top-tier showing last fall is still looking for his first win.
