Kaufman, Bhagat surge up the ranks

10/8 UTR 12U

10/9 UTR 16U

Benjamin Kaufman won the first Sweet Spotter Series he entered at the 16U level last weekend, defeating Daniel Li in the final, 6-3.

Li surges up to 24th from the low fifties for his efforts in reaching the championship, with Yuv Sharma only falling to the champion in the semis.

Eighteen players competed for the 16U title in a single elimination tournament, while at the 12U, which was expanded to include more than the originally planned ten-year-olds, two groups vied for the spots in the final. Paige Fromer was the first to give Rohan Bhagat trouble, but Bhagat climbed to third place overall with the championship, winning 4-0, 4-2.

AJ Mangin won the backdraw of the 16U title to rise a few more places than Christopher Tower Morris, who reached that final as well. In the 12U third place match, group runners-up Cornelia Touw and Adam Petkoski needed a match tiebreak to decide it, which Touw won 10-5.

Twenty-six players signed up for the entire weekend, just shy of last week's record for the two-UTR tournament weekend.

The full tables now look like this.

Each weekend until Thanksgiving, Tennis Central is bringing you USTA and UTR tournaments at Holton-Arms School. Earn points for advancing through each round, just like on the pro tours, and qualify for the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP at season's end.

Bigger events offer more points, with the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP offering the most, as well as prizes.

Check here for updates each week to the Sweet Spotter Series Rankings, a 52-week points system based on the pro tours, as well as recaps of all the action and photos.
