Shiloh hops into first

Writer: Michael AugsbergerMichael Augsberger

Blue Glove Open: Fall 2022, Week 8

Two major wins for Shiloh Auzoux vaulted him into first place in Group D, still unbeaten even after a clash with the group leader, Finn Koski. Auzoux earns Player of the Week honors by toughing out victories over Koski (a close 8-6 score) and the veteran BGO player Annecy Tran.

Koski drops only to second and keeps his hold on the Final qualifying position for now. Tran, meanwhile, is still in the Group D race at 2-1. A horde of players can still make a run in the last three weeks of the season, with Ted Wang and Allison Tran sitting on three wins. Graeme Ebert kept alive his unbeaten run as well to announce his intentions for the title, winning 8-5 over Siena Auzoux.

At the other end of the tables, Kevin Parvizian went 2-0 to come up just shy in the voting for Player of the Week. Parvizian has found his place in Group B now and outlasted Jai Arora in a classic, 7-6. Before that he'd beaten BGO veteran Steven Herrle 8-5.

Ariana Ipakchi kept pace with leader Yael Lan and stifled Spencer Weiss, who had been white-hot coming out of the gates but now is 3-3. Ipakchi won their thriller 8-7 in a tiebreak. Meanwhile, Lan went to 8-1 when Miguel Zein dealt with injury in his 7-1 loss at her hands.

As the weather cools, things are getting hot in the race to Decision Day and Championship Weekend. William Green is 4-0 and a certain title contender after defeating Ben Cole, 8-4. He is slated for two matches this weekend, including a huge battle with Ipakchi, and Parvizian (5-2) is scheduled for one match, while Lan has the weekend off. It could launch one or both of them into a neck and neck race with Tomas Mulita and Ipakchi for that last Final spot. Parvizian and Green trail Mulita by three and two games, and Ipakchi by four and three, respectively.
