It was reminiscent of Mercedes in Formula 1---Alejandro Villa Bass kept the engine purring all the way through the finals of the 18U UTR tournament on May 22 to claim 80 points and his second title of the season. He barely dropped a game the entire time, pushed to the red line only in a second set by Cassidy Campbell in group play.
Together with his victory on April 23, Villa Bass has accumulated 160 points and seized first place in the Tour rankings from Luke Mearns, whose third-place group performance keeps him atop the 16U rankings.
It was Nathaniel Barish whom Villa Bass defeated in the final. Barish won Group A with an unbeaten record and stormed past Kenny Przychodzen in the semifinal. His maiden SSS voyage and silver medal sees him in fifth place now overall, while Przychodzen sits in second place.
At the second 12U event of the season, and second consecutive week of 12U play, Ishan Chand charged up the rankings with the tournament title. Chand, who defeated Valentina Rosales 6-2 for the championship, now sits in a tie for second place with Cameron Lucci.
Rosales, though, took full grasp of the opportunity. Her second-place award of 30 rankings points at a higher level tournament has placed her on the 10U podium, in third place for now.

Each weekend this spring and summer, Tennis Central is bringing you USTA and UTR tournaments at The Landon School. Earn points for advancing through each round, just like on the pro tours, and qualify for the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP at season's end.
Bigger events offer more points, with the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP offering the most, as well as prizes.
