Zhang and Chud off the blocks well

Blue Glove Open: No turkeys in Week 2

Both Ray Zhang and Jeremy Chud have started with two Group A wins to take an early lead. Only the slim games won percentage difference separates them. Three of their four collective wins have come at the expense of quality competition---Bora Barclay qualified for last season's Group A Final. Chud also dispatched William Green last week.

Cole Piraino earns Player of the Week honors with an 8-4 win over Solomon Ravitz. The former boosts his record to 1-1 (1-0 in Group B play, having played up a level last week). Ravitz has been playing well, coming into the match after posting a victory over Yael Lan.

It will be interesting to see how the rules change factors into the race for the title. Matches against higher-level opponents still count in the standings, but no longer do potentially lopsided game scores affect the all-important, tie-breaking win percentage.

Join us for our race to WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND when the Group Finals will be played. Continue the journey through the winter with our outdoor BGO matches, Bethesda CC indoor training and matches, and our BGO-fueled Travel Team Plus!
