Blue Glove Open: Spring 2023, Week 8
As of this writing there were no changes at the top of the leaderboards, though we finally saw some action in Group A. Lara Isler, Daphne Dunlap, Sophia Yu, and Annie Lippard all kept their leads heading one week closer toward Championship Weekend, an all-female cast looking to cash in on their hard work.
Dunlap had been scheduled to be in action this weekend against Ilan Faraci, who took his match against Jack Mearns with little trouble, except that at 7-3 the match didn't fully conclude. He still earns the win to draw within a game of the Group A leader and claim the Player of the Week honors.
Ari Faraci, with his 8-2 win over Ariana Hornberger, also stalks within one game of his own Group D leader, Lippard. It was Hornberger's best showing of the season as she looks for her first win that put up a stalwart defense against Faraci.
Mearns nows sits at 1-1 after the doubleheader, avenging his loss to Faraci with a win of his own against Jake Snow.
However, Zaki Rajkumar did the most damage of the weekend. By defeating Finn Koski 8-1, he drew even with Lippard in Group D and trails her only by games-won percentage. She is 16-1 in her two matches, while Rajkumar is 16-4. It sets up a nice final showdown if neither slips up or is caught by Lara Dabney or Shiloh Auzoux before then.
