Shiloh Auzoux claims Group D in nail-biter

Blue Glove Open: Spring 2023, Finals Week

Shiloh Auzoux and Zaki Rajkumar fought to massive acclaim in the BGO Group D Final, but only one winner could emerge. Auzoux (3-0 on the season) grabbed the victory 7-6 and with it the spring season championship, all the more impressive given that he'd just won the consolation bracket of the TCJC 14U event a few hours beforehand.

Rajkumar finishes the year at 2-2 with an excellent 27-17 games record, one that boosted him into the final when Annie Lippard (2-0, and 16-1 in games) could not play.

It will be an anticipated fall matchup when Auzoux and Lippard finally get to meet each other in the dream "what might have been" final.

With many players on vacation, the other two group finals were postponed until their return, and the summer will unveil the winners shortly. Following that, the BGO recommences in September as fall lessons kick off.

Group A Final

Ilan Faraci v Daphne Dunlap, tbd

(Serena Provinse and Alvaro Orlove, runners up)

The clash of titans has seen one dress rehearsal, a 7-6 thriller that went Faraci's way on June 10. Everyone is excited to see the repeat of a tense drama. It will take monumental effort to pull out the win again, or for Dunlap to overcome the past.

Group C Final

Lara Isler v Ted Wang, tbd

(Cornelia Touw, Paisley Fromer runners-up)

Isler has been steady all season, playing the most often and accepting all challenges. She's 3-2-1 but vulnerable having won just under .500 of her games played. Wang may be able to capitalize.
