When you heard the name Zachary Mills you used think of the energetic, left-handed quarterback from Rockville who holds many Penn State records. Now the name is synonymous with Sweet Spotter Series event champion, with McLean's Zachary Mills winning Saturday's 10U round robin narrowly over Azaria Shetty.
The Mills-Shetty match went down to the wire, and it decided the title. Mills won 7-5.
Roberto Devoto claimed the 14U championship on Sunday winning all his group matches and then a semifinal and final. Sathvik Mathi also advanced to the final before Devoto won 6-2.
Mills rises to seventh in the 10U rankings, with Shetty now at 18th.
Players who did not emerge from their groups or make the weekend's finals still made long strides in the rankings. David Gong, now eighth in 14U, jumped from seventh to second in the 12U rankings thanks to his performance at the higher 14U tournament this weekend. Jack Mearns joins the top 10 as well, and Steven Herrle climbs to 14th.
Devoto will be an interesting case come Tour Championship time. Now an event champion who played just one event previously, he still needs to gain a few places at 14U (9th) and 16U (11th) to guarantee himself a spot, and the only thing that may bar his way is time. Only nine tour stops remain until the Tour Championship, three of which are below his age group.

Each weekend this spring and summer, Tennis Central is bringing you USTA and UTR tournaments at The Landon School. Earn points for advancing through each round, just like on the pro tours, and qualify for the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP at season's end.
Bigger events offer more points, with the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP offering the most, as well as prizes.
