Blue Glove Open: Week 13
Arjun Ramesh improved to 5-2 on the season with an 8-5 win over a tough Mack Fisher. Jumping into fourth place in Group A and just three games out of a coveted spot in Championship Weekend, Ramesh is the Player of the Week for February 25-27's slate of matches.
With two wins, Renata Cavallo climbed into a finals position in Group B. She displaced rival Tomas Mulita--for now--who dropped two opportunities against Solomon Ravitz and Lily Farahi. Ravitz still leads the group having taken over last week and playing hot tennis. He and Cavallo are tied at 7-5; only games won percentage separates them.
Farahi could make a move if there's enough time left in the season. She's 2-0 with wins over group favorites Ariana Ipakchi and Tomas Mulita.
Jeremy Chud won a showdown of top talent, a 7-5 victory over Ivy McConarty, to claim first place outright in Group A over JT Mathura. Both he and Mathura have lost only once this winter and seem on a collision course for the final, unless Martin Ridao and Ray Zhang appear on the schedule more often.
Zhang returns this week to play Bora Barclay, who defeated Jack Mearns 8-0 to get to 3-7. His season started slowly with many close losses, but Barclay is making amends as winter warms up.
