Summer's leader takes the reins

Blue Glove Open: Fall 2022, Week 2

Yael Lan had led the top group in the summer BGO as the league transitioned to the fall, and she immediately positioned herself as the player to beat in Group B with a stellar indoor Week 2 abbreviated by remnants of Hurricane Ian. "Yaya" toppled Tomas Mulita and Ariana Ipakchi, two Group B staples, to be named Player of the Week.

The wins made for three one-game wins for the season for Yaya, proving her mettle in dramatic finishes. She sits in first in the early standings of Group B.

A few marquee matchups had to be called off due to rain. Ben Cole and Chase Velasquez's first duel to determine supremacy in Group A was among them, as was the entire Group D slate scheduled for Sunday afternoon including Allison Tran and Nico Madueno's openers.

However, Cole was able to hand Veera Singh her first loss of the campaign, 8-5. Cole is now 1-0 and at the top of Group A, while Singh is primed for a confrontation with Lan, just three points separating the two.
